Re: If I had only known

Sue,
What is the botanical name of mountain bluets? I have a *beautiful*
plant that is also known as knapweed: Centaurea hypoleuca 'John Coutts'.
It is in bloom now, with bright magenta blooms and handsome, deeply
divided foliage. Why it is called knapweed is beyond me, as it is
neither thuggish nor lanky.
Good thing we didn't know it was called knapweed. My husband did not
like the looks of Eupatorium, and after learning that it is called Joe
Pye Weed, he said, "That should have tipped you off. PLEASE don't buy
any more plants with 'weed' in the name!" We're still married, which
shows how mannerly the knapweed is.
