Jean,
Cut flowers with very long stems are selling for $1.75-3.00 per stem here
depending on the variety. They are very beautiful, but I feel like I don't
dare take my eyes off of them because they are so expensive! On the other
hand, street corner vendors sell nice mixed bouquets for $10.00. I would
say they have medium stems. Martha Stewart takes very long stemmed flowers
from the flower market in NY and cuts them very short. A regional
preference? One of the benefits of having ones own cuts out in the garden
is they can be any length or number you like!

Dear all,
Another interesting topic is cut-flower bouquets -- off topic I know. In
Philly they are cut w/ short stems and you have this big bouquet of flowers
all smushed up close together. In DC and Balto, there are generally long
stems, very airy, filler, and more exotic or expensive cuts.
