Dear all,
So far, we've got peonies, glads, callas -- what else? I remember my aunt
(who grew up down South) didn't like lilies that were strongly scented for
the same reason. Personally I love lilies, especially white big callas!
Arouond here, the funeral flowers are chrysanthemums of all types including
what we call football mums around Maryland, and gladiolas (but which are
also used to make a statement in restaurants -- 3 or 4 doz w/ very long
stems in a vase under a spotlight). I think it would be very expensive to
have callas or peonies here.
Would love to hear from everybody what kinds of funeral flowers they have in
their neighborhoods.
Another interesting topic is cut-flower bouquets -- off topic I know. In
Philly they are cut w/ short stems and you have this big bouquet of flowers
all smushed up close together. In DC and Balto, there are generally long
stems, very airy, filler, and more exotic or expensive cuts.
