Hi everyone,
We are about 3 weeks ahead of schedule in western Oregon so nearly
everything is in bloom. The daylilies and true lilies have not started but
everything else has.
Some of my favorite current combinations are red Jupiter's beard with the
'Dropmore' catmint (a really pretty, nearly glowing blue) and 'May Night'
(deep purple) salvia. These three simply won't quit from now until fall.
I also have 'Crater Lake Blue Veronica' with orange California poppies, but
the veronica has flopped badly. Thought I might try the early pruning thing
next year before flowering. Have any of you had any success with this
technique with this particular plant?
Of course, who wouldn't like blue geraniums with yellow roses, but I also am
enjoying the purple geranium, 'Birch's Double' with Pat Austin, a
coral/orangey rose.
Another no-fail combination is the yellow yarrow 'Moonshine,' with its
silvery foliage, companioned with blue flax. These two can sure take the
heat.
Enjoy your garden!
