Hello Barb,
Have not seen the new ... or the old... Victory Garden program. However,
we are in the slow process of replacing the raised bed frames where we used
railroad ties and treated timbers. We paid a visit to a local saw mill that
specializes in red cedar. First we checked out the new composite "woods"
made of plastic and wood... far too expensive... over $60 for one board....2
x 8 x 8.
Second or third grade cedar 2 x 8 x 8 was about $8 each.
A lot has been said on both sides of the argument for and against the
treated timbers... now finally decided. It is on the way out by the industry
itself before they are held liable for all that is out there in the
environment.
