My own favorite fantasy is that one day, I will drown enough Japanese
Beetles so that the population is reduced to the point that they start
inbreeding and die off from recessively-linked genetic weaknesses.
In my part of USDA Zone 7 (from where I can throw a rock into zone 8), JB
season is June. Expect it to be bad this year; winter was pretty mild.
