Actually, I'm looking for flower lookalikes. Or look-similars. There are
daylilies, of course, though they don't do it for me in the same way lilies
do. Although I have a pale yellow daylily (named 'Lemon Cap,' if I remember
correctly) that smells like lily of the valley. It's wonderful! I found
some sprekelia bulbs at BJ's (of all places) and will try them, though
they're tender. Maybe there are some other South African possibilities.
Claire, I'm afraid the beetles are heading your way. Let's hope the
parasitized beetles released by Mass Hort a couple years ago have been
breeding and will spread. (Although this bio-warfare makes me nervous.)
Also, a belated thank-you to you for putting me onto the Gaultheria and dwarf
rhododendron being available at Home Depot a little while back. There were
just a few left when I went the next day.
