===>Coming upon a big snake unexpectedly is certainly startling. A couple
years ago we heard clatter coming from inside the garden shed. Opened the
door to find two big blacksnakes suspended from a pole that hung out over a
shelf near the ceiling, entwined and writing in sexual ecstasy. The pole was
bouncing around knocking other things off the shelf. It was almost mystical!
I've seen blacksnakes eat moles too, not just mice, so I definitely encourage
and protect all blacksnakes! Fortunately I'm in an area where poisonous
snakes are rare, so I don't worry about that.
