Hi Marge,
There is a problem with using a hardscape material - I am talking
about a bed that is 130 feet long, that borders my neighbors yard.
The expense alone is enough to kill the project. I would also be
disturbing the stone every time I move or add a plant.
My thought is that the sawdust can moved and refreshed as needed and
will break down in to something useful. And it is cheap... :)
