How not to deal with it:
Pull poison ivy out of the azaleas all afternoon. Think you're being
careful.
Come inside, get distracted by a phone call. Feel the stiffness of a hard
afternoon in the garden set it.
Take a bath with bath oil.
Dry off.
Notice a little itching the next day, but forget about the bath oil, and the
oil that rubbed off on the towel, and take a shower.
Repeat.
Finally gave up and went for the prednisone after five days.
I have to be careful with the dogs, too. I usually get my first case of the
season from the Maltese. The rash is more diffuse; direct contact with a
leaf generally causes a straight line of blisters.
The bath oil-and-towel trick was really impressive, in terms of spread. And
stupidity.
