questions re forsythia

Pardon me for using this forum for a question I know someone will have
the answer to, but which is not about perennials.

Our forsythia are finally in bloom, but while we have lots of bushes,
they're not all blossoming fully; we've had drought here in NYS for
several years, but this past winter was a good one for snow and rain, so
I'd hoped to see a lot of blossoms.

My question is should we cut them stems down a lot after bloom is over,
in order to get better bloom next year?
