Re: Re: Artemesia Oriental Limelight Thug Alert

Well, Donna, I have mine in a bed that is basically compacted 3/4"
bluestone gravel mixed with clay (due to an over enthusiastic guy on
a backhoe some years ago), covered with a thinnish layer of rotted
woodchips. This is its third year. It has spread a very little bit,
sort of elongated, but is not being rampant. I think the rocks are
discouraging this to some degree.

I am keeping a sharp eye on it because of its antecedents...the
species, as I have noted on one or more lists, is a rampant hideous
weed known as mugwort; one of the banes of my existence in another
part of the garden. I probably ought to have my head examined for
allowing this pretty cultivar into my garden but the jury is still
out debating the issue.

I would NOT give this plant a lovely soft bed of great soil mix. It
could go berserk.

purchased a small start last week, still sitting in it's 4" pot on
the side of the house. How much does it grow in one season? Is it
seeding around or just underground runner type?
