Interesting, I don't get more than a dozen or so seedlings a year.

I guess velvet leaf's called a noxious weed because it takes over
cornfields, growing in the shelter of the stalks and because the seeds
survive so long. As I mentioned, they show up occasionally in commercial
compost, and that stuff has usually had some real heat in it.

No! Nor do I go out of my way to pull every seedling in the beds. The
leaves are a lovely thing to stroke and the seed pods make
interesting additions to dried arrangements. Maybe 2-3 plants a year.
It is listed a wildflower in several of my guides; why a noxious weed?
