We're in NYS zone 5ish, and just now beginning to see what has lived and
what has not. Several years ago I had a windfall and bought lots of
plants from WFF, but many of them have not lived, and others just don't
seem to behave like one wants perennials to. That is they haven't taken
off and spread, so that one has not only the plants one paid for, but
actually has to take them up and divide them, for their sake.
The perennials that have been most healthy for me are penstemon*, rose
campion*, maltese cross*, sanguinaria*, phlomis*, violets, ajuga, vinca,
mallow*, phlox. Also, one of the plants from WFF, an early spring
anemone, which I put in a quite dappled-shade area, has spread and
spread, just like I hoped.
