Seed is hard to come by, in fact, I am not sure this salvia makes viable seed as mine have never made babies. That said, the beautiful salvia you are seeking is Salvia guaranitica 'black and blue' and can be found at many different nurseries if you know what to ask for. Salvia guaranitica has many varieties ranging from sky blue ('Argentine Skies') to purple, nearly black of the one you saw to royal purple of Salvia 'Purple Majesty.' All are easy to grow and well worth looking for. they do great in the ground and in containers. Just go to google and see who you can find selling it mail order or start calling your local nurseries.
Excellent taste, Kate

Hi everyone: Question on Salvia. While out yesterday at a local nursery I spotted this beautiful plant in a large tub planting and thinking that the nursery had other plants of this salvia I asked the worker and she said it was from another grower. Can anyone tell me where I could get seed for this salvia called Black and Blue Salvia. It stated on the tag that the hummingbirds loved there flowers. It was really striking in the arrangement as the flowers were carried up very high over all the lower growing foliages. Anyone have experience with this plant? Boy, I love rain, but this is getting to be too much here on the Mountain. My seedlings aren't doing very well with out the sunshine. We are supposed to have rain until next Friday.
