Wisteria

Rain - Rain - go away!

Wow, have been passing by a nursery for a while and never had a chance to
stop until this weekend. Boy, what a surprise. They specialize in exotic
shrubs, and bonsai, etc. Although everything was expensive as far as shrubs,
trees, etc did buy a few perennials from them.

They had wisteria - planted up and cropped and placed in containers and were
actually bonsai. These were old trunks. Before I chop out my wisteria I
might think about doing this with them. My wisteria has taken off and is a
real pest. Perhaps if I put some kind of container around the drip line it
will not spread out with suckers into everything.

Some of the specimens of fir trees were wonderful. One tree the gent
pointed out to me was 600 years old from China. Price was $6,000.00.

They had wonderful Yucca's that looked like giant mushrooms. I've been
surprised that they had these growing on a large bank - as in Reading, PA
it gets really cold. But the fellow told me you need to have plenty of
drainage and to plant in lots of sand mixed with the soil so their roots
don't rot in the winter during heavy snows.

I have a form of Yucca and the more I dig it up and transplant it - the more
Yuccas pop up. I think mine is called desert candles.

For the very - very rich as he sells a lot to big collectors of plants,
shrubs and trees. But needless-to-say it was a great experience.

Made me think about all those old shrubs and trees I chopped out.
