Okay, Chris, we will have to think about this idea. I like the plan to use
the space under the ledge or mountain that you want to build. I wonder if
the small stepping stones of concrete around 1.19 a piece would not be okay
to use as ledges. The hypertufa does not last as long as concrete itself
would last. Outside Nashville, TN there is a wonderful sedum that only
grows on the limestone that is flat. It was blooming pink last week when we
went to visit my mother. I can see making something like that but you would
need several sizes of concrete pavers to make cervices for the plants.
Some one on another list several years ago build a wall with hypertufa pots.
I think he used the pots to plant in between rocks. You could use some
shallow pots to get more of a root run for different plants.
I guess I still will have to think about your ledge or small mountain.
