Like Joanie, I've also used horticultural vinegar (although mine is 30%), but with mixed results. Some plants like thistle will brown and die immediately, but others (like established bishop's gout) won't do anything. It seems like new growth is the most vulnerable, so I've found that cutting it back and then attacking the resulting shoots gives me the most success. You have to keep at it with a few applications, but I've never been disciplined enough. This is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VVMTM14/ I just put it in a spray bottle and mist the plants.
