Thanks, Joanie. I didn’t realize there was an agricultural vinegar.  I have used a shield b4 by using a 2-litre bottle with the bottom cut off over the plant and spraying through the neck. Great idea!

I've had excellent results spraying with 20% agricultural vinegar. You can get quite close to treasured plants if you use a shield of some sort and only spray on a calm day. It sometimes takes 2 applications but it gets the deal done on knotweed, etc. It dissipates rapidly from the soil. If you can't find it locally, amazon has it. Good luck!

If you do spray into a pot on stick so spray only goes where you want it.

Yes, I do some stupid things. A couple of years ago I was invited to a plant swap of people who know little more than the flower color of their plant. No name. Now it’s Persicaria Brushstrokes, Tovara. It seemed reasonably well behaved. A few volunteers here and there, but last fall it was all over the place and getting thick. Awkward around the valuable plants I’m trying to protect.  Now I’m at an area where I originally planted it and there is not much else there. Since there are so many tiny seedlings everywhere, I know I’ll be fighting it for years to come around the valuable plants. But here where there’s little else, do you think Roundup might be in order?
