Oooops, another contender. I'll use my Manual of Vascular Plants on it
when it blooms; there are 18 Helianthus listed , and I'm not too good at
using those keys. I guess I don't really need to know its name, but
curiousity impels.

I have Helianthus strumosus. it is as weedy as they get. spreads underground.
blooms in the shade, it is a woodland species. The leaves are very rough.
Grows 4-6 feet tall.
If I remember right plants produce a toxin that weekens other plants.
Blooms late summer.
