The colour doesn't no, but it confirms that it is probably Jackmanii
Superba, which means it is one of the Clematis which flower on new wood,
a Group 3 from the pruning point of view. Too late to do any pruning
this year (you will loose later flowers) so, prune hard next February
and it should branch out more and give more flowers lower down next
season.
