Much of Albuquerque is zone 7 and the Lilacs bloom well there! Gardeners may
have to trim off root suckers on grafted cultivars, but there is no chance of
winter killing the tops. There are Lilacs of all shapes, sizes and colors
blooming now. We live in the mountains outside the city. We have lilacs too,
but bunnies tend to prune them back for us. We have a dog now and we may have
better luck with getting blooms now.
