Agree that you need to plant when you need to plant. I'd rather have them in
the wet ground than sitting in a pot drying out. Yes, you will compress the
soil some, which is why I work from back to front, and put my knees or feet
where I plan to plant the next plant. Digging a big whole where I compressed
the soil solves the problem. I also add some drier mushroom compost to mix in
with the wet clay also helping the problem.
