Very little besides early ( like now) spraying with systemic insecticides
will keep leaf miner out of columbine. That said I have had columbine and
leaf miner both for a number of years. For the first year or so I used the
same insecticide/fungicide I used on my roses and that kept the leaf miner
down. Then I got lazy and couldn't be bothered. Eventually my columbines
were pretty much leafless, but by fall the plants had grown new leaves and
looked healthy enough. Next year same thing. Now I don't bother to dust
them and I just enjoy the flowers when I have them.
