It would depend on the type of climatis (when
it bloomed).  I grow morning glory every year
and its very vigorous, I have to literally RIP it
off of whatever I've grown it through early the
next winter (its dead, but the vines get very
tough, even in one season).  Would you want
to put your climatis through that?  If the
climatis had to be cut back every year anyway,
that might work.  If its an early bloomer, it
would be disastrous, you'd probably rip off all
the flower buds.  There are pruning
requirements and blooming times to consider
before an intelligent decision could be made.
