Sorry, I should have said C. integrifolia, not terniflora.
C. durandii was the one shown most. I was surprised to hear it
called a shrub Clematis. Susan, he said he propped it up initially
with brush but had also planted Artemisia around it for support and
color contrast. I don't think he gave the species of Artemisia used
or the size. What shrub do you grow it through?

Non-climbing, one beautiful blue is climatis x
durandii (?). Not really shrub like, I grow it
through a smallish shrub for support. Exquisite
deep blue/purple flowers. Perhaps what you
saw?
