Non-climbing, one beautiful blue is climatis x
durandii (?). Not really shrub like, I grow it
through a smallish shrub for support. Exquisite
deep blue/purple flowers. Perhaps what you
saw?

This morning on Martha you-know-who's show
she showed some shrub
clematis and I missed the name of the species.
It had lovely purple/blue
flowers and the fellow showing it was
supporting it with short branches
(pea branches). Does anyone have any
experience with any of these types
of clematis?
