Hi Robin, I used tomato cages for my peonies. I leave the cages in the ground
all year long. As the peonies grow, I guide the growth into the center of the
cage. Has been working for years. My peonies were also huge this year - no
problem for the cage to hold them up. By the way, I usually pinch off the sucker
buds on the peonies - leaving only the main bud. They get much larger in the
process. Good luck next year.
