The best way to have non-flopping peonies is to go to a peony nursery at
bloomtime, preferably just after a heavy rain. It is amazing to see the
difference in plants. Some will be standing tall with their flowers
well-displayed, and others will be dragging in the mud. Then choose
accordingly. The nursery I went to is A & D north of Seattle.
