Hi Marilyn,
The real key to keeping your lamb's ears perky and fuzzy is
drainage and dryness. Too much water usually makes them look
all soggy and spread out because the center of the plant begins
to rot.
If you let them dry out, they should do fine in the shade. If
the amount of moisture that they receive can't be helped, you
might want to amend the soil before you plant your next one.
Just mix in a heavy dose of builder's sand and mound up the soil
a little higher where it will be growing.
Bear in mind that they do tend to be a little less compact in
the shade, no matter what you do.
