<< Gaura in May. Wow. Here in the west of Ireland Gaura 'whirling butterflies'
is perennial (zone nineish) but won't start flowering in about late July.
It then continues until November. I would be quite happy to pay $7 for a
bouquet of the same at that time of year, which I think is the real beauty
of the plant, a real end of season charmer !

Gaura is a new perennial for me. Just purchased two from different nurseries.
One I got that was in bloom and I cut back. The other I purchased mail order
and all ready it is starting to bloom. Suppose to grow to 4-6 feet. My are
only about 13 inches tall but full of bloom. Hope that in their second year
they will grow to type.
