Heirlooms in cottage gardens

Keep spreading those old plants around! We at The American Cottage Gardener are
always being amazed at what treasures lurk in peoples yards, and at how many
treasures have been lost because they didnt measure up to some catalogs newbies.
To heck with newbies, I say.

By the way, we at the ACG are looking for writers who love to garden or gardeners
who love to read. You have to be crazy for old-fashioned plants. The American
Cottage Gardener magazine is now in its 6th year as a literary gardening quarterly.
Our focus is the practical adaptation of the panglobal cottage gardening style, which
mixes ornamentals and edibles, to North American climates and cultivars. We mean all
North American climates: too often gardening magazines focus on the Northeast.
Each issue runs 40 pp. with only 1 page of ads, and is printed on heavy archival
quality 100% recycled stock with black and white woodcuts and line drawings. We are
the opposite of slick.

Our magazine is available by subscription only. For all countries, a sample issue (the
most recent is the one always sent) is $10 postpaid in U.S. funds. For US, Canada, &
Mexico, a 4-issue subscription costs $35 in U.S. funds (check, money order, or
currency). For all other countries, a 4-issue subscription is $40 (US dollars) or 25
English pounds sterling (currency only; we suggest registered mail). Send all
subscription orders to: The American Cottage Gardener, 131 East Michigan Street,
Box RL/NET, Marquette, Michigan 49855.

Of course, 100% satisfaction is guaranteed. If a reader decides to cancel his or her
subscription partway through, we prompty refund the unused remainder of the
subscription fee. You may also get a good taste of us by visiting a World Wide Web
page devoted to us at http://trine.com/GardenNet/ACG/

IMPORTANT NEWS NOTE! We are now offering a payment for articles of $25 per
printed page, on publication. We consider ourselves a showcase for passionate
gardeners who are frustrated with the intellectual and thematic restrictions of the
mainstream gardening press, and who want to let other gardeners know about a
particular genus, plant, gardening lore, or slice of gardening history. You could even
write about your garden at home; we are always interested in showing our readers
how other people in other parts of the country live with plants. We buy only First
North American Serial Rights, which revert to you after the piece sees print, so you
can market the piece again if you want.

You may address article submission queries (no manuscripts, please) to:
