Hi Jeanne,

Hang in there girl! Sounds to me like you're right on track.

We moved five years ago in the middle of a big family crisis. The garden
kept me sane. In hindsight I should've known better but I tackled the
previous owner's garden with passionate arrogance, absolutely certain that
I could correct their foolish mistakes in a great flurry of transplanting.
And I'm talking dozens of huge rhodos, azaleas and other shrubs.

In my defense, they were very odd gardeners. Seemed to be addicted to
purchasing plants - and some quite good ones - but lost it when it came to
getting them in the ground. There was a thicket of rhodos crammed in full
sun ten feet from the front room picture windows that completely blocked a
gorgeous view of distant mountains. The back yard had several seemingly
random plantings. My favorite was a cluster of holly, spirea, plum, and
boxwood in quite deep shade. One of each.

Holly is hard to move. What DO you DO with one boxwood bush?

Not all of the shrubs amongst the rhodos turned out to be inappropriate in
full sun and are now barely hanging on in deep shade.

I've had to admit that I spent five years correcting other peoples' mistakes
and will spent the next five fixing mine!

Everyday is a surprise. That's the fun of it.

And those shasta daisies? Move them anywhere anytime. They're
indestructible.

Donna in Coastal British Columbia.
