Lots of comments about White Flower Farm in Connecticut. Last year I
ordered plants from three catalogues: WFF, Spring Hill, and Michigan
Bulb. The plants from WFF were by far the most expensive, HOWEVER,
they arrived in beautiful condition, were large healthy plants and in
some cases roots, and every single one is doing beautifully in my
garden. Of the plants from Spring Hill, most were little more than
seedlings and only about half survived the winter. Of the 15 plants I
ordered from Michigan Bulb, only two survived. They were all half
dead when I opened the package. The two that survived were Monarda and
Lady's Mantle and from what I hear, those two could thrive in the Gobi
Desert, Antarctica, or the swamps of the Florida everglades..take your
pick. Of course they assure me that the plants are guaranteed so all
I need do is let them know and they will send replacements. If the
replacements are the same quality as the originals, there is not much
sense in even bothering.
To summarize..you get what you pay for and I will continue to buy from
the White Flower Farm.
