Wilting is caused by a lack of water in the plant tissue.
Some of the causes of this condition are lack of soil moister, dry windy
conditions, to much water in the soil, physical damage to vascular tissue do
to insect or microbial infection. Hard soils that prevent root growth can
make all the above conditions worse.
One problem I see some times is that the plants are grown in almost a pure
peat/pealit mix and when transplanted into the ground the peat plug never
gets any water as the plant sheds the water off the leaves and the peat plug
never picks up the water from the surrounding soil.
