<< Paul,
Nothing personal intended, but I have never thought of Minnesota as hot.
I am in zone 7b, with a several winters under our belt with no snow/ice.
Our pansies here are planted in October and pulled up the first of May. We
cut grass beginning the end of March until just before thanksgiving.
What type of summers do you have, and what type of problems do you see?
Here in my area, moist well drained soil is a bog.
Would love to here more about you're gardening.

July and august it gets into the high 80's and 90's and it might not rain
for four weeks or more plus a hot dry wind from the West.
In the winter it gets down to-25 to-30 below 0.
We do not have spring here. It goes from frosts at night one week to 70 or 80
degrees Highs the next.
Last week I was worry about frost now I have to water every day to keep the
pots moist.
But fall is long and nice!!
Unless we get a blizzard on Halloween.

Paul
