Hi..
Someone posted a question to this list about wedding flowers, and it got me
thinking about what flowers we consider to be romantic. What would you
plant in a romantic garden in your very own yard; a place for you and your
SO to get together for a cup of wine and etc?
Mine would have white Oriental lilies (for fragrance), nicotiana alata (for
fragrance after dark!), lots of peonies (for both fragrance and general
blowsy sensuality), antique roses like "Maiden's Blush" (perfect name,
lovely color and fragrance), and (out-of-season) forget-me-nots ( for the
color and the name). A screen of tall blue delphiniums would be perfect,
along with some meandering clematis 'Nelly Moser'. No bed of roses, but how
about a bed of fragrant sweet woodruff? Shall we mix in some alpine
strawberries for a tiny snack as we dally?
Well, I think I'll go plant some nicotiana now, rather than take a cold
shower, but you get the idea. What would you plant?
