All the advice you have been given has been good. But the problem this year
was the weather. I live in IL zone 5 and had only a few flowers on the bottom
of my shrub. The snow insulated the bottom branches from freezing but the
exposed had winter damage and the flower buds froze. Maybe this is what
happened to yours
