Re: forsythia


here in zone 7   forsythia is like the plague.  I cut it down to the
ground and it just keeps coming back.   I have pruned mine 2 or 3 times
already this year  (since it has finished blooming)  I have to cut it
back or it just takes over my other flowers space.   It's beautiful in
the spring.  I plant it with my hawthorns and the pink and yellow is
beautiful together.  If you want more,  just break or cut off a branch
stick in the ground and before you know it,   it has taken roots and you
have another forsythia..........
if I'm pruning   I usually cut the old growth,  it will bloom more for
you on the new growth.
I'm giving advice for my area (zone 7 in NE Mississippi)   I'm not sure
about other areas.
