Nitrogenous

Actually, Marge, nitrogenous is not a new word.  I remember my professors 
using it,
usually to refer to waste matter (e.g. human sewage, fertillizer run-off, 
etc.) that causes algae bloom in our waterways.  Bird droppings (uric acid) 
are also referred to as nitrogenous waste.  But you are right on -- chickweed 
would qualify as nitrogenous matter in the compost pile.  --Janis
