You will need about 5 gal. of cement for a 30 x 15 x 9 I like the 2-3-3
mix. It is more porous and does more evaporative cooling. It also cures
slower so you have more time to work on it before it gets too hard. I use a
chisel and wire brush to get rid of the smooth surface and give it a layered
rock look. It's best to make too much and have bowels or boxes handy to
use the leftovers for making little troughs or stands for the troughs. You
should not start with a large trough, start with a little things till you
learn what you are doing
