Barb, and all interested in hypertufa
I have always wanted to try this, and have just went out and bought all the
ingrediants!
There is a great article in the April/May 1994 Herb Companion Magazine,
that you could probably copy at the library. Pictures explain the procedure,
but their recipe calls for 2 parts portland cement, 3 parts vermiculite (or
perlite) and 3 parts peat moss.
There is also a 6 step method at Rebecca's garden. This procedure says to be
sure to "poke" holes for drainage, Herb Companion article says it is best to
use wooden dowels, which seem the best method to me. Rebecca's recipe is just
slightly different, using equal parts of the cement, perlite and peat moss. I
would imagine the Herb Companion finished product is slightly more porous,
and rougher looking, which I think is the idea

I do have the 2 page article, from the Herb Companion, printed out from the
AOL garden message boards, and would be happy to fax it to anyone who is
interested. A very nice lady from AOL garden boards took the time out to type
to the boards, and she doesn't mind my copying and sending! She makes them
all the time, and likes the look of the Herb Companion recipe the best!
It may take me some time to re-type as an email, so would be happiest to fax.
Email me privately, and we can work something out!
