I'm with Claudia & Susan -- I often see that some of the local
nurseries have stuff I've sent off for. I will still mail order,
though, because:
1. Often prices are much better -- like 3 for the price of one,
from Bluestone, e.g.
2. While the nursery may have the plant, they may not have it when
I want it, or be sold out. Most of my mail order suppliers will ship
the week I request, and most of them let me know what's not available
in advance. So I can plan for the weeks I'll be planting, and what
I'll be planting.
3. I do more impulse buying at nurseries -- something I know none of
you indulge in! Last week, I got two miniature lady's mantles and four
geraniums that weren't on my "must-have" list for this year, but they
looked great and healthy. I also have an "if I can find it, I'll get
it"
list of plants I don't order, so I have an excuse to go to the
nurseries.
Like my linaria didn't come back this year, so I'll be looking for a
replacement. I usually send mail orders in in February, when I have
no idea what might not come back. Not many losses this year so far!
Things are looking beautiful here, due mainly to the very cool weather.
