I can think of a couple of possiblities.
First, if bearded irises are crowded they don't bloom well. Since you just
planted them last year, this isn't very likely.
Secondly, they don't bloom if the top of the rizome isn't exposed to sun.
If you amended the soil since the last bloom they may be buried.
