Nan
here in NE Mississippi we have fairly mild winters, however there are
some of my bulbs that I overwinter in my basement. Calla Lily is one
and Dahlia's are another however with the Dahlia's I could probable
leave those in the ground if I mulched.
I store them in a cardboard box with vermiculite and write on the box
My Calla's are already in bloom. Dahlia's aren't yet. I plant my
Calla's in pots, I found that they do much better.
In the late fall I purchased those little yellow or orange flags that
you sometimes see at new building sites and I mark my perennials so
that I won't try to plant something over them come spring.
everyone ask me why do I have all those little orange flags in my
yard? you've got to admit it gives me some color in the dormant
season.
