Re: Crocosmia

Gaura is definitely hardy in zone 4 with decent drainage. It is grown here
in southern Ontario pretty regularly. And I know of an Ontario
horticulturalist and writer who lives in a colder part of zone 4 than I do,
and who grows Crocosmia "Lucifer". He buries it about 18" deep in a light
sandy soil and then simply digs it out in the spring. I haven't tried it
yet, but hope to put a couple in for experimental purposes, since I also
have light sandy soil, and a bed in which I grow only annuals and tender
bulbs, so I can dig around for the additional soil to bury the
crocosmia.-----Original Message-----
