Hi List:
I've been lurking for a few weeks and am coming out of lurk and into the
garden. I'm fairly new to perennial gardening, having graduated from
annuals about 3 years ago and have a couple of questions.
I am enjoying the brugmansia discussion as I am attempting to grow both
a brugmansia and a datura. I know the datura will be okay outside year
round since it came self seeded from a friend. The brugmansia will have
to come in for the winter, I'm in a windy zone 5, but can it take a
frost?
Now the biggy. I am attempting to amend a small flower bed which was
taken over by Queen Anne's Lace. Digging it up and Round Up failed to
eliminate it and I came home the other night to find the Other Half
finishing pouring gas over it. It is now dead but......... what about
the soil? Should I remove the top 4 or 5 inches and replace and how
long before I can safely replant. The Other Half figures the gas will
evaporate and the soil be okay but that sounds too easy.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Heather
