Susan -
I'm really at the tail end of the "gloves" discussion but I just thought to
mention some information that has recently been given to me.
A friend of a friend was "playing in the dirt" w/o gloves and she had a small
cut on the inside of her hand. She ended up with a terrible infection that
landed her in the hospital....so bad of an infection that a disease
specialist had been called in to give her a special antibiotic thru a
cathiter (sp) in her check. She was diagnosed with a "bacterial fungus" that
was in the soil. It has been over a month and she still has to go the
hospital for the antibiotic.
I too am guilty of not always wearing my gloves...seems they are in the front
yard and I'm working in the back yard. Last year my mother-n-law introduced
me to the silicone glove. It is a lotion that does not wash off but
exfoliates. The product protects your hands from soil fungus' and any
fertilizers that you might use. It can be purchased thru Avon and DynaGro
carries such a product. If you are interested DynaGro's phone number
800/Dyna-Gro and the product is called "gloves in a bottle". It is not the
most reasonable price, I believe between $8 - $10 dollars a bottle, but it
does go along way.
I like the feel of the soil so this has been a solution in the glove problem.
Now I just have to remember to apply the lotion.
Just a little F.Y.I.

P.S. We might be related.....I too have that "round" shape
