Donna -
About catching those seeds....sometimes I will twist tie cheese cloth around
the seed pod...this way when you miss the "pop" they will be caught in the
cheese cloth.
I'm not sure if it is a fluck that I get some fall bloom or the fact that I
put the bloom booster after labor day...I know I was surprised myself but it
has happened for two years straight. As far as deadheading....I'm a constant
trimmer....my columbine die back in July usually (this year it will probably
be June because it is already so hot) and I ignor them until I see them again
in late September. They are located right next to my pinecone shrimp which I
begin to put bloom blooster on after labor day and I think they benefit from
it. Sometimes my blue columbine doesn't die back completely in the winter.
I guess it has a semi-micro climate. They are under a live oak which doesn't
loose it's leaves until spring and the bed is in a protected spot by the
house. Maybe they have their season's confused!?!?!?! Where I am, my fall
like weather can last until January, winter being January/February....this
year we only had fall like weather for our winter and our spring started in
January, summer in April. If I was a plant in the ground around here I'd be
confused.
Good luck--
