I had a pretty Columbine, my first one.
 I had it 2 or 3 yrs. I think.
One spring it bloomed white on one side and pink on the other side.
Both side were equal and appeared to be coming from the same plant.
It didn't come back the following year.
I've been curious what happened when it bloomed in two colors?
Has this happened to anyone or do you have any idea why?

If I had to wager any money on this one-the answer would be you had two
plants growing right next to them selves so it looked like one plant.
Columbines are have a habit of self sowing into tight clusters of plants.
It sounds like they both competed against each other to their mutual demise.
